May 27, 2008 - Lol, when we were in high school the Internet wasn't even invented yet! How things change. Speaking of change, I am now a Dad! I have a little girl, Kaylee with my wonderful wife Jill. We were married in 2004 and Kaylee arrived in Jan 2008. After grad in '90, I went through the Camosun Professional Cook Training program and did some cooking for a few years. Found out that it wasn't quite for me and went to work for a small manufacturing company out in Sidney called Sigma Technologies, largely manufacturing traffic control equipment. I worked there for over 9 years and eventually became the production manager before moving into more computer/software oriented fields. I started doing web design and then went to work for CardioComm Solutions Inc. where some of my old co-workers were working. I ended up doing a lot of traveling around the US with CardioComm and got to see a lot of America. I am now currently working for Daniels Electronics Ltd. as a radio systems technologist. My wife and I sold our place we had in Victoria and made the move out to Langford in 2005 and are enjoying all the changes and improvements happening in the Western Communities. I enjoy it when I run into fellow classmates around town from time to time. Looking forward to a 20yr grad reunion and catching up with fellow Grad '90 alums!! Cheers all. (dmbone@shaw.ca)

Hi, I am from the Class of 1989. I am back at Lambrick helping coach the Cross-Country and Track & Field Teams. Recent grads will know me as 'Coach Rob' . (fotosbyrob@yahoo.ca)

Liberty (Ford) Pereira
After high school i did some time at Camosun, worked a lot, partied a lot and then married in 1997. I worked as a buyer for a retail chain for several years before deciding to change careers. I now work as a project manager for a lighting agency. My husband and I had our first child in 2002 and are now expecting a second, due September 2007. What did high school teach me? Well, aside from all the usual math, english and how to dissect a fetal pig, I learned never judge to myself as those around me have. Don't let the people you meet determine your worth - they don't know who you really are! Good Luck grads of Lambrick Park! Its a big world out there - make sure you are prepared for it! (ldrp@shaw.ca)

Mar-Lynn FitzGerald (Marnie)
Wow, I did not know this was here but I am on the phone with my buddy from high school, Kate Grafton, and we are online looking at the website for Lambi and reminiscing, (talking about our faves including Rocky!) lol Technology is a good thing! Mrs. Neufeld was onto something when she showed us that 'WWW' thing way back when! lol Lets see, after highschool,,,,well, I thought I had my life planned out but God had other plans! They say if you want to hear God laugh, just tell him your plans! lol. I am first and foremost a domestic engineer! I am a wife and a mom to 7 (4 I birthed and 3 more blessings in my life), 6 boys and 1 girl. Two are graduating college in the spring. We are so proud of our kids! Now, 18 years later! OMGosh!(Now, I don't know about you, but I never seriously thought about this age. All I knew was it was a 'parents' age and they were all 'old' lol) We just took our 13 year old son to 'transitions' night at Lambrick to prepare him for his years there! I did warn him that I would at some point during that night have a 'moment' and I sure did! What a trip walking back into Lambi as a parent! No more of the old fears but, a new fear: someone may recognize my poor son's mom & see her 80's hair in the pic down the hall! lol I have stayed in Victoria and am raising my kids here because it is unique, safe, and so beautiful. Moving back into Gordon Head has allowed my kids to be able to attend Lambrick. It is still a leading school in Victoria and I feel so honoured that my kids will experience a smaller atmosphere where their teachers will actually know their name! I am excited for them to go through highschool in this time because there are so many more paths they can choose than I had to choose from. So much growth from Highshcool, so many things I treasure, so many things I wish I could go back and redo with the wisdom, courage, knowledge, & acceptance I have now. It has been a journey for me and thank goodness I made it through my 20s!:) lol. I lost a parent this year and I guess if I could write just a few really great things, they are, truly enjoy life, really do not sweat the small stuff, never carry the let downs and hurts with you, do not hold grudges against people as they generaly do not remember what they have done, and surround yourself with love. People are like ice burgs, we only see the tip of who people are, their behaviour. There is so much under the surface & if we are lucky, we get to know them fully and deeply & if we are truly blessed, we let them in too! If I could go back from this point in my life, I would make more of an effort to thank the people who brought me support and acceptance, and I would hope I would bring more support and acceptance to my friends and classmates back then, we all needed it! My hope as alumni, is that we all have grown and not just aged. As well, when we run into eachother around town we look upon each other with a familiar smile and new eyes! As my children grow and each attends Lambrick, I hope their experiences are as memorable as mine. It was a good school then and still is now. I hope they carry the lessons they learn at Lambi with them as I do. I am looking forward to now experiencing the parent side of the Lambrick Park Pride. Be well, Take care of yourselves, Say HI if you see me! Sincerely MarLynn. (msfitzlol@yahoo.com)

Patricia (Lee) Morrison
Well should have been grad class of 1984 but decided I could make a million quitting school and working at McDonalds-yes learned my lesson the hard way! At some prodding from my boyfriend Jamie at the time, I went back to school to do my grade 11 and 12 at Lambrick. Did both 11 and 12 in a year and a half, finished in January 1986, worked at Victoria's Secret Lingerie and waited for grad in June. Had an awesome grad. Life went on - working- finding myself or better yet, trying to, and getting married at the ripe old age of 22 to a former junior high sweetheart. Needless to say it did NOT work and after 9 years finally found out who I was, what a healthy relationship is really all about and started a new life. Worked at RBC Dominion Securities as assitant to a Senior broker, moved on to the Hotel industry at Dunsmuir Lodge in booking weddings, etc and then onto the Provincial Government. Met my next future hubby - the most wonderful dream anyone could hope for, we had a beautifuld baby boy we named Dakota -he is 6 now and a star! THEN we got married! Yes, did that backwards I know! Been on a honeymoon ever since! We lost a son we named Dallas in 2002 at birth. He was early. Gord works with VIHA and teaches courses up and down the Island, I own a high end consignment clothing store in Mill Bay and life is good. We currently live in Cobble Hill. Done some travelling and Lake Tahoe is a fav spot. May even make it to the reunion this year. Take care all... (gpdmorrison@telus.net)

After Lambrick, I didn't do too much of anything. Worked in the service industry for a few years; got tired of the low-paying jobs and took some secretarial training. Started working for the BC government in 1989 and have been here ever since. Not married, child-free, spending my time with friends and family, golfing, running (although I still suck at that!), and enjoying life! (monievibc@yahoo.ca)

Although I only went to LPSS for 12th grade, it has both fond memories and some poignant regrets for me. After graduation, I went to Denmark for 18 months on a religious mission. Upon my return I went to the University Of Alberta and Grant MacEwan Community College and received a degree in Recording Arts and Sciences. By the time I graduated in 1989, I had three kids, and moved to the US for work in the entertainment industry. I found relative success here, and am a voting member of NARAS (the Grammy guys). I worked in recording music for movies, television, and album releases, but burned out on it after a while. I went from there to theatrical sound design, which was a great job path, but it required that I work every night from 2-10 PM... not so much fun, although I was very successful at it. I then started working as a technical writer for a musical/recording equipment company. From there, my career has taken a bit of a winding path, from writing to marketing and graphic design, to web design, to sales, to entrepreneurship, where I am now, I guess. I run a mortgage office and am also Vice-President of Planning for a local home builder here in Utah. I have four wonderful kids, and my (second) wife has four great kids too, so we have a full life. But as I said, I always remember where I came from, and Lambrick Park is a big part of that. To this day, many of my 'favorite teachers' are the ones from Lambrick Park.

Ursula (Stossel) Backlund
In 1984 I married my high school sweetheart, Jim Backlund & we moved into a floating house at the head of Narrows Inlet on the Sunshine Coast of BC.  In 1986 we had our daughter, Patti, who is currently in her second year of Engineering at SFU.  In 1988 I gave birth to our first son, Jimmy, who is graduating this year. In 1992 I gave birth to our second son, Ricky, who is in grade 8 now.  I was lucky enough to be able to be a stay at home Mom & help out with the kids at the school and with extra curricular activities while they were young. I spent 3 years as a Cub Scout leader & 1 as a Venturer advisor. In 1999 I started working at a fish hatchery which is just down the road from my home & I'm still working there.  In 2004 I divorced Jim. I am currently engaged to George, who moved in last year & is adjusting well to living with teenagers.  We enjoy travelling, gardening & pretty well anything that involves spending time together.  Our lives are very full & happy.  We have a wonderful family & many great friends.  (ubacklund@dccnet.com)

Sonya (Spreen) Bates
After high school I went to UVic and got a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Linguistics. My aim was Speech Pathology, so I then moved across country and did my Master of Science degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, majoring in Speech Pathology. I took a job in a sole-charge clinic in Fort St John, BC and got a taste of the really cold weather before moving to Salmon Arm. I worked at the Health Unit there for five years, met my now-husband, Russell in England while we were both on holidays. Russell is an Aussie, so we had a decision to make.  We now live in Adelaide, South Australia and have two daughters, Claudia age 7 and Megan almost 9. I work part-time as a speech pathologist with the Department of Education and Children's Services, and also write children's fiction. My first book was published in 2004, and my next will be released in October 2006.  (rsbates@optusnet.com.au)

Kevin Batycki
After grad, I took the 'long road' to a university degree. A couple of years at UVic taking everything from sciences to music theater... a two-year Camosun tech program... finishing up back at UVic as an electrical engineer in 1992. I've been working since then at a local engineering firm (http://www.pwrm.com). Starting as a hardware designer, I rather quickly made the jump to customer service and sales. So for the last ten years or so I've been flying around the world selling systems to companies like Intel, Weyerhaeuser, and Enron (well, that one didn't turn out so well...). Outside of work, I try to live a big shiny life. As many know, I have been jamming with Fred Hagen and others since 1987 (!) in the band that played Miss J's retirement party, Mizter Reziztor (http://www.mizterreziztor.com). I spend much time not finishing projects around my house, and vacation copiously on a sailboat in Mexico (it's good to have friends in hot places) or backpacking around Europe. (kevin@batycki.com)

Barbara (McAdam) Bell
I live in Kelowna (since ‘88) with my partner of 10 years Ken, daughters Brandi (20) and Heather (11). Our other two kids, Tiffany (22) and Justin (21) live in Victoria. For the last four years I have been the Registrar for the Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors (BC). I also work part time as an artist model and love writing. We’ve enjoyed some travel (eastern Canada, US and Mexico) but our best trip was chaperoning 35 Environmental Science students to Costa Rica in 2004 where we did whitewater rafting, zip lines, jungle treking, horse back riding & some diving. This summer Ken and I are cruising to Alaska, and then my Mom, two of my sisters, a niece and two of my daughters are heading to Ireland in search of distant relatives. Hopefully we’ll find them in places other than cemeteries. I spent the first 15 years out of school learning who I was, the last 10 enjoying who I am. It’s worked out well. (bell_barb@hotmail.com)

After graduation or at least after finishing Grade 12, I went to Victor's Hairdressing School. I am on the Royal Victoria Marathon Committee as the Speaker Coordinator and I also belong to the Runners' of Compassion, a non-profit organization that raises awareness and provides funding for social and charitable causes. I have an amazing partner, Tony(who went to school with Miss J.!)and great yellow lab named Hank, who I take to work, he is officially the LOCKS' Greeter. I left not only B.C. in 1986 but also Canada and ventured to California.  It was there in Southern California that I met my husband Mark and we married in 1988.  We have our own business working together training and owning racehorses.  We traveled coast to coast here in the U.S. spending half the year in California and the other parts of the year in Pennsylvania, Chicago, New Jersey and New York.  After a decade or so of traveling we decided to settle here in New Jersey.  We race at the Meadowlands Racetrack and we live about 9 miles west of New York City.  I am blessed with a beautiful view of the New York City skyline everyday and night from our barn where we stable our horses.  We don't have any children but we do have about 20 racehorses which demand our care and attention 7 days a week.  The only vacations we have ever taken have been to Maui, Hawaii a couple times and I have decided if I could retire anywhere it would be there.  Thanks to a great team of people that currently work for us, I will be able to get away and attend this reunion.  This will be my first time returning home and I am extremely excited about it.   (SilvaStable@aol.com)

After high school I stayed in Victoria working and going to school.  In 1987, I went to Mexico and worked at an orphanage for about six months.  This was a lot of fun and it would be great to do it again.  From 1987 to 1990 I worked in construction and later had a roofing business.  I returned to school in 1990 and worked part-time.  In 1995, I graduated from U-Vic with a degree in social work and started working in child protection.  I disliked that work so moved to the Ministry of Health a couple of years later.  In 1997, I went to visit Fernando Juanicotena in Panama.  He was working there in a family business.  I met my wife about that time and we were married in January 2004.  I had started a masters in health administration degree in 2001 and finished that in 2005.  On my birthday in November 2004, we had boy (Joel).   (jwstanger@shaw.ca)

After high school I worked for the provincial government for 6 years and then went back to school to train as an RN.  I got married a week after my I graduated to Dave (a high school teacher).  We spent some time in Invermere and Penticton before settling in Summerland.  We now have three children, two boys (aged 7 and 9) and a daughter aged 13.  I am currently working as a diabetes nurse and a chronic disease prevention educator for Interior Health.  I teach health-related courses at Okanagan University College and write for various health magazines.  (stathers@shaw.ca)

I went on to school, first UVIC for a BFA in Theatre Design and Performance followed by work at the Banff Centre in the Scenic Art,  went on to become the head of Scenic Art at Vancouver Opera and The Vancouver Playhouse while working in film and theatre on the side. After meeting my future husband, I moved to the prairies.  In 1991 I went back to school and got my B.Ed in Arts Education at the UofR and started teaching high school. In my spare time I teach and review Arts curriculum for the SK Ministry of Education, write for theatre magazines and manage a web resource that links drama teachers from across the world. I am proud to have won Kennedy Centre and PBS Arts awards for work in arts advocacy; I never get tired of creating great theatre with teenagers.
In my other spare time…I’ve been married for nearly 10 years to a great guy named Jeff.  We have 2 kids, Maya – who is 11 and Carter – who is 7. We live on 3600 acres of prairie grassland and Jeff farms both grain and cattle.  (cbranyik@sasktel.net)

I completed my diploma of nursing at Vancouver General Hospital and then worked in neurology.  After 3 years I decided to take a year off and go traveling through Europe, North and South East Asia and Australia. That was a tremendous highlight.  On return I worked at the BC Cancer Agency on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.  Looking for more independent work in health care I then decided to become a Registered Massage Therapist.  That became my primary job for the next 5 years while I still worked part time in nursing as well.  At the age of 30 I got married and moved a year later to Powell River with my wonderful husband, Nick and our puppy Airedale.  Within 2 years we had our first girl, followed by a second girl 20 months later.  Olivia is now 7 and Emily 6 (and Kate the Airedale is 11).  We're very settled in Powell River and love the outdoors including hiking, sailing and kayaking.  (janetwhite@shaw.ca)

After grad in '81 I wandered for a few years. If you recall I was in the army reserve and I gained employment and experiences all over Canada, the Middle East and Europe. Eventually I got serious joined the regular army, bought back my pension and moved to Calgary for several years, then Edmonton for several more and now I’m happily back in Victoria where I plan to retire in the next few. I find myself in transition single again and moving into private life after 27+ years with the military. I did three tours in Bosnia (1 1/2 years of my life) and I hope to do one last tour overseas in Afghanistan before pulling the plug, in November '08. I hope to spend much more time with my main passion in life these days, which are my motorcycles. I was an avid scuba diver for ten+ years but I have given that up, for the open road. After High School got my private pilots licence.  I moved to Edmonton and got on with the airlines.  (Not as a pilot but as Passenger Service agent/flight attendant)  Eventually I got a transfer back to Victoria . Married a pilot and we have 2 children.  I was with the Airlines for 19 years.  It was a very fulfilling career which involved sitting on many committees. I resigned last year to spend more time with my family, and my horse. I am a director with the Lower Island Equestrian Club and volunteer my time with the Victoria City Rowing Club. Wendy (Stratton) Yzenbrand
After graduating from Lambrick, I spent several months coming back to school in order to complete my wall mural.  I attended Brigham Young University for half a year; or basically until my money/scholarships ran out. I trained as a photo lab technician and worked at that for several years. I met my future husband, Dirk Yzenbrandt in 1982 and we were married in 1984. We moved to North Vancouver for several years. In 1986 our daughter Sylvia was born and I left my job to be a full-time mom. Our son Dion was born in 1991 followed by our son Kai in 1995, we currently live in Victoria in the Broadmead area.
For the last three years I have been a volunteer early morning seminary teacher for my church. I teach 18 teenagers at 6:30 every school morning. I love teaching and I love the teens. Most of my volunteer work is for my church which is the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. There’s lots more but it’s all stuff that every parent does; community, sports, school, church.  (dyzenbrandt@shaw.ca).

I had the pleasure of being part of Lambrick Park's first graduating class. I still have a picture of myself receiving my certificate from Mr. Voth - the school's first principal. I wonder to this day, however, what happened to the 'blue suede shoes' I wore that night. After leaving Lambrick I went to UVIC and received a B.A. in Geography. After working for the Provincial Government (a trend, from what I have read in other biographies) and selling cameras I attended Law School at UVIC. After working for a year as an assistant to the Judges of the Vancouver County Court I articled with a large Vancouver law firm. I stayed there for a number of years, ultimately becoming a partner in the firm. I HATED it...I liked the work and the clients, but did not particularly like working with other lawyers. I now practice law from a home office in North Vancouver, and have the latitude to help people who need assistance, regardless of whether they can afford to hire me. I am married for a second time to the lovely Nancy (with whom I eloped to Las Vegas in February, 2006 - we were not married by an Elvis impersonator). I have two children, Katie, 14, and Ryan, 11, who constantly amaze me, and, daily give me new reasons to be proud of them. Best regards to all Lambrick graduates.
