SUMMARY:School Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Students will be delivering collection boxes and lists of desired donations to D BLOCK classes on Monday afternoon. The class that collects the most food (determined by weight) will get donuts. The class that comes in second will get Timbits. If any students in your class want to donate cash\, we’ll count it in the total on a $1 = 1lb basis. Donations will be collected at the end of the day on December 9 and winners will be announced on Monday. \nThis year\, we’re participating in the KOOL FM FOOD FOR FAMILIES FILL-UP food drive and the school that collects the most food gets some seriously good PR and a trophy so we’re hoping that everyone will talk this up with their classes… Not to mention\, there’s a ridiculously large number of families in the CRD who depend on food banks. \nWe’ll be having students come to D block classes periodically over the 2 week period to talk up the food drive – apologies in advance for the disruption.

SUMMARY:Community Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:As part of our food drive efforts we go door to door one night in the neighbourhood collecting food and cash. If you would like to help out\, we are usually short of drivers for this event. All that’s involved is driving 2-3 kids to a particular area (we deliver flyers ahead of time to let people know we’ll be coming around on the 7th) while they collect food along the route and then returning it all to the school. We’ve budgeted 3 hours but this could be much shorter depending on how many drivers we get… If you can help out\, please let me know.

SUMMARY:Angel Gifts for Our Place
DESCRIPTION:Each year for the past couple of years we’ve been collecting money to purchase Christmas gifts for members of the Our Place community. We have been given 10 names this year and need to raise about $450 to purchase gifts.  Students will be coming around to classes just before lunch (B block) on Thursday\, December 8 for an “empty your pockets” fundraising blitz asking students to donate what they can.  Once we have collected the money\, I run out to Costco to buy the gifts (usually a hoodie or sweater\, some warm undergarments and some chocolates and other treats) then the leadership kids wrap them all up\, include a nice card and we deliver them to Our Place by December 12th.
