Island Health has confirmed the following:
- Close contacts who are NOT fully vaccinated are supposed to isolate for 10 days after last exposure to the case. If they go on to develop symptoms and test positive, their isolation is five days from their onset of symptoms, so may end up shorter than the initial 10 days.
- Close contacts who are fully vaccinated (including children with 2 doses), they do not have to self isolate but should self monitor closely and isolate immediately if they develop symptoms. If they develop symptoms, they should isolate for five days because of their symptoms (symptoms override close contact status in terms of self-management).
We have since updated our Daily Health Checklists to provide further clarification. See attached.
