Dear LP Families,
Hopefully everyone is having a great summer. Our goal is to send a weekly update every Friday to help share important information with everyone regarding what is going on at Lambrick Park. This year in particular we are wanting to make sure families are in the loop as the situation regarding the pandemic evolves and changes.
While we are looking forward to school starting up and having staff and students back in the building, it is going to be a different start-up for everyone.
Important Start-Up Dates:
Thursday, September 10th: Students with last names A-L attend a Homeroom Class from 10:00 to 11:30am
Friday, September 11th: Students with last names M-Z attend a Homeroom Class from 10:00 to 11:30am
This Homeroom Class will be important for students to attend as we will be:
- Covering safety protocols (to be published after the September 11th homeroom)
- Distributing up-dated student schedules
- Handing out important school forms to be brought home, filled out and returned
Regular classes begin on Monday September 14th
Lockers:
Normally, students would be able to go on-line and select a locker for the year.
This year, we are currently NOT issuing lockers to students. For now, we are asking that students bring what they require for there one or two classes each day with them, and take home what they need to continue with their classes.
Change-room Lockers will be available for students registered in PE or Academy classes. Students will need to bring their own personal lock so that they can secure their valuables in a Change-room locker during their PE or Academy Class only (it will be expected that the contents and lock are removed and taken home after each class).
Classes and Courses:
Now that the District has an approved and formal plan for secondary schooling, some of our school staff will be busy working on trying to update student schedules/courses. We are doing everything possible to make sure students get the courses they requested last school year. That said, the new Quarter System we have moved to may result in some shifts. Most students will take one course in the morning and one course in the afternoon on alternating days, switching to alternating days in the morning and all day in the afternoon half way through the quarter. Detailed information on this will follow in our next communication. Where possible, students will have one academic block and one elective block per quarter.
We need time to work on examining each student’s timetable individually and making changes if possible and where required.
It is very likely many of the request students and parents are hoping for (and may have been possible in the past) will not be possible this year.
Visiting the School:
In a normal year, students and parents are welcome to come into the school to visit with staff and make face-to-face course request changes.
With the new protocols determined by Public Health, dropping into the school is not advisable at this time. We are asking for everyone’s help to utilize email or phone calls as their main way of communicating with the school. This will likely result in a back-log of emails and calls and it might take some time before someone on staff is able to respond.
*** Please note that all Staff will be participating in important Orientation and Training on September 8th and 9th and
the school will not be open to student or parent visitors.
Expect another email next Friday.
Have a great weekend.
