Dear LP Families:

It’s strange to think that September is now over.

Thanks to everyone for all their support, patience, effort, and understanding as we got the 2021-2022 school year started. September was extremely busy for everyone. It’s been great to see so many students getting involved in clubs and sports teams as they start up.

Yesterday was the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  It was created in response to the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.  Hopefully everyone had an opportunity to take time to visibly acknowledge the history of residential schools in Canada and to honour the survivors, their families, as well as those who never returned home from these schools. Hopefully some of the discussions and activities that have happened at school this week and in the coming weeks will generate some thoughtful reflection and meaningful discussions at home about the need for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.

On Wednesday, October 6th  we have 2 Zoom events happening.

  • Welcome to Lambrick Family Meeting: 6:00pm

Normally we would host a Meet the Teacher Night or an open house of some kid to welcome new to Lambrick students and families.  This year we are offering families a virtual welcome to LP. If you are able to, please join us for:

  • A video tour of LP
  • Understanding our Semester System and Schedule
  • Tips and ways to stay informed
  • Meet some staff

If you are interested and able to join us for our Lambrick Park Parent Advisory Committee meeting after the Welcome Zoom, we’d love to have new faces join LAMPAC. https://gvsd61.zoom.us/j/63142770748?pwd=ZkdrZlcrZWpGa04wMjkrWWhYeE5WUT09

  • LAMPAC: 7:00pm: This is our October Meeting (on Zoom) New members are always welcome.

Have a great weekend.

Secondary – Teens and Substance Use

Talking to teenagers about difficult subjects like substance use

can sometimes be a challenge for parents. However, providing your child with

balanced information about substance use early on and often, can help

them make informed choices when faced with making a decision.
